Busy busy with work, but here are some photos I’ve recently taken on my trips to San Francisco, Sacramento and Austin. I’ve also started a new project: a photo a day for 365 days. You check it out here.

And it will go down in history as the first spot that I edited to end up on-air… and I wouldn’t have it any other way. These last couple of months have definitely been a tour de post-production force. I didn’t expect to be editing anything on my own for a while, but I’m so thankful for all the recent opportunities that have been presented to me. I now present to you – The Challenge. Here’s to still knowing how to calculate combination and permutations.

The last couple of months have been great. Working full time has allowed me to develop my knowledge in editing and post-production at an obscene pace. I recent worked on the revision for The Daily Beast sizzle video. Building graphic elements on After Effects and weeding through all the talking head clips. Here’s the end product!

Quick note to self: don’t EVER do the 48 Hour Film Project and move into new home on the same weekend. My eyes, brain, muscles and overall morale have been completely drained over the course of a single weekend. Nonetheless, it was again, a very fun experience and I’m glad we made the 7pm deadline! More to come on the actual submission later. I came on board as the assistant editor. In addition to helping the editor out, I had the last minute opportunity to whip out a cast credit sequence. Time was of the essence, but I’m pretty happy on how it came out.

Noah and the Whale

I had the pleasure of checking out Anni Rossi, Ferraby Lionheart and Noah and the Whale at The Bowery on May 1st.  Prior to the performance, I had only heard of Noah and the Whale. Boy, what a well-matched lineup.

Armed with only her viola and a drummer, this girl gave a solid performance. Her voice and unpolished style reminds me a lot of Regina Spektor, often breaking off into instrumental tangents.

I was the only one yelling when Ferraby Lionheart revealed that he was currently residing in Nashville. It sure has knocked the LA out of him.  There definitely was a twang in the folk.

Frankly, everything about Noah and the Whale reeked of Wes Anderson. From their giveaway band name, down to the very fact that you could close your eyes to every song and play it to a scene from “The Darjeeling Unlimited”. If you do a little research online, you’ll find out that the auteur director is in fact a big influence on this band. I guess if you like Wes’ movies, then chances are, you’ll love their music.

The American Council on Science and Health is a non-profit organization dedicated to informing the public about health related issues. Science and environmental advocates often misconstrue information to create attention around certain topics. ACSH is currently working on a video site that will respond to their claims. Here is an animation that I designed for them that will hopefully brand their videos within the world of the interwebz.

I flew back to Nashville this past weekend for Vanderbilt’s annual Rites of Spring concert. The programming board did a great job with the lineup the four years I was in town (artists included Spoon, Clap Your Hands, and The Avett Brothers). However, this year, the first year that I am NOT at Vandy, they come out with NERD, Santigold, Okkervil River, TI, Q-Tip, and THE FLAMING LIPS! Students get in for $20 for both nights. What a great deal. What a great party! Check out some of the photos that I snapped in Nashville!
